One Solution — 3 Pillars

OOFELIE::Multiphysics + RayJack ONE, coupled in a true closed loop

OOFELIE::Multiphysics – The Structural Foundation

A Belgium-developed, sovereign multiphysics solver for mission-critical space and defence systems — covering structural, thermal, acoustic, electromagnetic, piezoelectric, and fluid–structure coupled analyses.

Structural and thermal analyses are performed using Simcenter™ 3D with OOFELIE::Multiphysics

This provides the physical description of the engineering system under its operating conditions.

Typical use-cases

AnalysisWhat It PredictsWhy It Matters for Optics
StaticGravity sag, pre-load, steady-state thermalBaseline alignment & focus shift
ModalNatural frequencies & mode shapesLaunch resonance avoidance
HarmonicSinusoidal responseMicro-vibration jitter (wheels, coolers)
TransientTime-dependent eventsEclipse transitions, thermal shock
Random VibrationBroadband statistical responseLaunch-phase misalignment risk

Adaptive Optics

Design systems that correct wavefront errors in real time

RayJack ONE – The Optical Vision

A non-sequential ray tracer built for the complexity of real-world space optics — where standard sequential tools reach their limits.

Optical performance is evaluated using RayJack ONE.
High-fidelity ray tracing enables the optical consequences of structural and thermal changes to be evaluated.

Geometry & Deformation

  • Exact NURBS, Bézier, spline free-form surfaces
  • Direct ingestion of FEM nodal displacements (uₓ, uᵧ, u_z) mapped onto optical control points
  • Sub-nanometre surface fidelity

Complex Physics

  • GRIN: Native volumetric refractive-index fields (thermal & stress gradients)
  • Coherent Propagation: Phase-preserving — interference, speckle, LIDAR, laser comms
  • Stress Birefringence: Native photo-elastic modelling (nₒ, nₑ splitting)
  • Stray Light: Full non-sequential ghost & scattering analysis

STOPTIMA – The Data Bridge

STOPTIMA provides the bridge between the structural simulation results and the optical model.

Its role is to transform relevant mechanical and thermal states into information that can be used for optical performance analysis.

Seamless. Cross-Platform. High-Fidelity.

  • Hybrid deployment: OOFELIE::Multiphysics on Linux HPC or Windows; RayJack ONE on Windows
  • In-memory binary exchange: no file I/O bottlenecks, across operating systems
  • Direct field mapping: full-order structural information preserved, interpolation losses minimized
